Discount clothing store to replace a vacant Toys 'R’ Us in the spring - NJ.com

Discount-chain Burlington will replace the vacant Toys 'R’ Us and Babies 'R’ Us stores at the Somerville Circle Shopping Center in Raritan.

The Burlington store expects to open in Spring 2020, according to a spokeswoman for Levin Management Corp., a leasing and managing agent for Somerville Circle Shopping Center.

The vacant space is 46,000 square-feet and located at 300 Route 202, on the Somerville Circle and Intersection of Route 28.

Burlington, more commonly known as Burlington Coat Factory, offers off-priced items on women’s, men’s and kid’s apparel; beauty products; jewelry; home goods; and toys.

The clothing retailer will join nine other tenants at the Somerville Circle Shopping Center: Jersey Mike’s, Harmon Discount, Panera Bread, Carter’s, Staples, Petco, Five Below, P.C. Richard & Son, PNC Bank and Burger King.

Burlington also replaced a Toys 'R' Us at the Bey Lea Plaza in Toms River. It opened in October.

Toys 'R’ Us, meanwhile, recently reopened in Paramus — the country’s first new Toys 'R' Us since the company shuttered all its stores in 2018. Some vacant buildings still remain in New Jersey, although last month, Aldi signed a lease to take over a shuttered Toys 'R' Us in Totowa.

Toys 'R' Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017.
