German discount grocery chain Lidl will open a food store in Bergenfield on Dec. 18 at 8 a.m.
Located at 80 New Bridge Road, this will be Lidl’s sixth store in New Jersey.
To celebrate the grand opening, Lidl’s first 100 customers will receive gift cards ranging from $5 to $100. Free samples of products and reusable totes also will be offered while supplies last.
Lidl has announced plans to expand throughout New Jersey. The company is expected to take over a shuttered A&P in North Brunswick, as well as one in Weehawken. A Lidl is also coming to Scotch Plains.
The grocer offers fresh produce, meat, bakery items and household products at discount prices. Food & Wine ranked Lidl third in a 2018 list of the “10 Best Supermarkets in the U.S."
Lidl first opened in 1973 in Ludwigshafen, Germany. There are currently 10,800 stores throughout 32 different countries.
