Lidl, the German discount supermarket chain, continues its Long Island expansion with a new store opening in Plainview next week.
The new 28,500-square-foot store, a former Best Market, is located at 1054 Old Country Road. Lidl purchased the 27-store Best Market chain last year.
There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, featuring special offers, giveaways, and prizes for shoppers.
The Plainview store is the fourth new Lidl on Long Island, following stores in Center Moriches, West Babylon and Huntington Station that opened this month.
Lidl opened its U.S. headquarters in Arlington County, Va. in June 2015. The company operates more than 11,000 stores and is active in 32 countries, employing around 287,000 employees globally.
