CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Macy's is closing its store at University Mall in Carbondale.
Store employees tell News 3 they were notified of the closure Monday.
A spokesperson for the company says a clearance sale will begin this month and run for approximately 8-12 weeks.
"The decision to close a store is always a difficult one, but Macy’s is proud to have served the Carbondale community over the past 29 years. We encourage customers to shop with us at the nearest Macy’s store at Macy’s Cape Girardeau and online at macys.com," said Carolyn Ng Cohen, director of media relations.
The company says regular non-seasonal employees who are not placed at other Macy’s stores will be eligible for severance, including outplacement resources.
